When things go right
When things go sour….
It’s been a while since my last post, I have to post more darn it.
Over the last couple of months I have traveled to Florida and had every shoot bail on me. I’ve had a guy try to set up a shoot with a model for me and tell her that I require her to send him naked pics to forward to me as examples before I would shoot her (not true, I would never do that!). I’ve had a model set up a shoot with a wardrobe designer only to have him bring a couple extra guys for me to shoot figuring he could get his entire catalog photographed for free. And finally, I’ve struggled with my lighting to the point where I feel like I’m a newbie.
I don’t take these things very well and numerous times I have thought of quitting. I take it personal and it takes me a while to get over it. I do this for fun, otherwise it wouldn’t be worth doing. but sometimes things happen that make it feel like an awful job. I go around and complain to everyone, post stuff on facebook and then just sit in front of my computer and let it stew. and then my friends will talk me through it and then I have a girl come in and have a wonderful shoot and make it all worthwhile.
I guess there are always going to be tough situations I just need to find a better way of handling them.
here are some pics that helped lift my spirits
New pics added
Yes, I take pictures of babies too
A couple of weeks ago I decided to try my hand at baby photos. One of my former teachers from my store called and I jumped at the chance to photograph his baby girl.
I have to admit that I thought it was going to be a lot easier than it was. I went into it thinking that I could bend and form the child into all the right poses that I had in my mind. And wouldn’t you know it, babies aren’t always that cooperative, ha ha. It seems that the flashing of my strobes was quite an irritant. But she was a trooper and I think I got some good shots. I think one of the issues I had was that it was on at their house and it’s never easy to go somewhere without knowing where you’ll be shooting.
I have to say though, when I sent them the pictures I got the best compliment I have had since I started doing this. I sent a text to the father to see if they got the pics, and he replied that she would have responded but she was crying because she was so happy with the pics. that made it worth it.
So I’m actually supposed to update this page?
It’s been a while since I’ve even thought about this page. This has probably been because I have not had a studio to shoot in and I have been enjoying a little break. but it looks like I’m now back in business and should be posting again soon.
Here are a couple pictures of the new studio. I’m going to be sharing it with a few other photographers which is great. Its nice to be around like minded individuals.
