This has been a slow summer for models shoots. I have done a few weddings helping other photographers out and also some family oriented work, but not much studio work with the temperatures being so high. Now that its cooling down I’m starting to book more studio work and I think you should be seeing more posts from me soon. Here is a picture of Sandy to hold you over
This past weekend I was thinking whether or not I still wanted to keep shooting in RAW. I really hate what adobe does to my pictures when I load them into Camera Raw. There is a brief moment of joy when I see the previews come up in Bridge and then that goes away when Adobe flattens everything out. I hate going into raw to adjust my camera profile, then contrast, then lower the blacks from the default, etc.. I just want the pictures to look like what I saw on the back of my camera Continue reading
I’ve made some changes to Fracturedphotography.com. I decided to get rid of the flash viewer for the galleries and now you can view each image individually and comment on them if you like. Also changed is the ability to comment using facebook instead of registering on my site. Hopefully by the end of the week I will have buttons working so you have share on Twitter, Google +, etc.
I will have the Galleries completely updated soon and hopefully I will be able to start posting on a more regular basis since the page should be more usable for me. I’m still working out the kinks, so excuse me for any problems you might have
I’m updating the galleries and this whole page. galleries should be back up soon
Sometimes you have shoots where things just seem to fall into place. It’s a combination of the right model, the right lighting and the right attitude. So to make up for a couple of lousy experiences recently I had a couple good shoots. Hopefully there are more to come.
Here are some pics
It’s been a while since my last post, I have to post more darn it.
Over the last couple of months I have traveled to Florida and had every shoot bail on me. I’ve had a guy try to set up a shoot with a model for me and tell her that I require her to send him naked pics to forward to me as examples before I would shoot her (not true, I would never do that!). I’ve had a model set up a shoot with a wardrobe designer only to have him bring a couple extra guys for me to shoot figuring he could get his entire catalog photographed for free. And finally, I’ve struggled with my lighting to the point where I feel like I’m a newbie.
A couple of weeks ago I decided to try my hand at baby photos. One of my former teachers from my store called and I jumped at the chance to photograph his baby girl.
I have to admit that I thought it was going to be a lot easier than it was. I went into it thinking that I could bend and form the child into all the right poses that I had in my mind. And wouldn’t you know it, babies aren’t always that cooperative, ha ha. It seems that the flashing of my strobes was quite an irritant. But she was a trooper and I think I got some good shots. I think one of the issues I had was that it was on at their house and it’s never easy to go somewhere without knowing where you’ll be shooting.
I have to say though, when I sent them the pictures I got the best compliment I have had since I started doing this. I sent a text to the father to see if they got the pics, and he replied that she would have responded but she was crying because she was so happy with the pics. that made it worth it.
It’s been a while since I’ve even thought about this page. This has probably been because I have not had a studio to shoot in and I have been enjoying a little break. but it looks like I’m now back in business and should be posting again soon.
Here are a couple pictures of the new studio. I’m going to be sharing it with a few other photographers which is great. Its nice to be around like minded individuals.
I will be updating this page from time to time as I get used to the blog format. I will also be updating with new photos, tips and anything else I think amuses me (and hopefully amuses you as well).
For my first picture post, I think I’m going to show you my favorite things in the world
